Luminosity of Light
Post Covid Paintings
My paintings deal with the luminosity of light. They are inspired by a need and my choice to embrace brightness and positivity in the darkness that seems to hover over the entire world like an enormous dark cloud. I use organic shapes that are derived from nature with the intention to lift the spirits of the viewer.

Political Paintings Based on Cultural Invasion
What is cultural invasion? It is when a dominating force tries to destroy, by various means, the culture and values of another group. This concept was developed by Paulo Freire in his book Pedagogy of the Oppressed. Thanks to Freire’s ideas, cultural invasion has become the focus of all my political paintings.
With these paintings, which have been influenced by cultural invasion, I have created a series that travels though time. My first painting is from when Columbus made his voyage. This painting, Cultural Invasion of 1492, shows how his voyage caused a chain of events that impacted different races over time. The painting Viva Ramona portrays the struggle of the women of Chiapas against the Mexican military. The painting of Carmen, Her Past, Present and Future is an image of Carmen reflecting on the complexity of her Taino, Spanish and African heritage which represents her past and present and what her future will be after immigrating to New York.
